Sunstone is an oligoclase feldspar that can only be found crystallized in large masses (rarely found in tabular or prismatic form). The name comes from its apparent resemblance to the sun. The sunstone is characterized by golden glitter caused by small particles of red hematite or copper. Look for the most famous deposits in the USA, specifically around New York, Pennsylvania, Oregon or Virginia, but also in Sri Lanka, India, Mexico, Norway, Russia, China and Canada.
