Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a mineral rich in sodium aluminium silicate combined with the metamorphosed rock in which it grows. Lazurite is always found in Lapis Lazuli. However, minerals such as calcite, pyrite and sodalite may also occur. The name is derived from the Latin word "Lapis" meaning stone and the Persian word "lāzaward" meaning sky.
