Dalmatian stone, also known as Dalmatian jasper, is a mineral consisting of feldspar and quartz with black dots that are thought to be tourmaline. However, recent studies have shown that it is more likely to be the mineral Arfvedsonite. This mineral occurs in massive form, with its largest deposits in mines in the Chihuahua region of Mexico. Its name comes from its resemblance to Dalmatian dogs, and was given to it by local miners and residents.
